Duckathon - 4pm at Walton Wharf
Running again after a very successful premiere in 2019, the Duckathon consists of a race between eight hundred plastic ducks! 1st Walton Viking Sea Scouts sell the ducks in the run up to the event and on the day. They mange all the logistics from the river and the riverbank and ensure all ducks are retrieved after the race.
Ducks are sold for £2 each. Cash prizes go to the top three ducks, with remaining funds going to the Sea Scouts. If you'd like a duck contact [email protected] or come aong on the day before 15:30 as the ducks start racing at 16:00! |
.WHAT HAPPENED IN 2019:
A large crowd gathered on the bank of the River Thames to witness Walton's first Duckathon. Local Liberal Democrat candidate Monica Harding started the race. The location of the finish line was determined after the start because of the unpredictability of river flow and wind!. The sight of 800 ducks took other river users by surprise. Enjoy the pictures!
