Heritage Day in Walton-on-Thames - held on 10th September 2016
Walton-on-Thames Heritage Day 2016 was held on Saturday 10th September at three locations in the town; Walton Wharf, St Mary's Church and Riverhouse Barn.
Despite the inclement weather, record crowds went to St Mary's and Riverhouse. At St Mary's they enjoyed trips up the Norman tower, investigated the church's history and watched bell-ringing demonstrations. At Riverhouse they queued out the door to watch the premier of Memories of Walton II and to be a part of history by adding some stitches to the community panel of the amazing Mount Felix Tapestry. At the wharf cheery locals braved the drizzle with their children and dogs to enjoy the stalls, hog roast, puppet show, boat trips, the Mayor's visit and the dog show. Thanks so much to everyone who came along and made all the organising worthwhile. See you next year! |
