Heritage Day in Walton-on-Thames - 8th September 2018
A fantastic day was had by everyone involved in all of our 6 sites around the town with large numbers at St Mary's, the Playhouse and down at the Wharf as well as at the Fair in Bridge Street.
The Bear team won the 4x4 Tow and will be presented with a cup sponsored by Surrey 4x4 Response which they will hold for a year and then bring back next year to try and retain. Winner of the brochure competition (£100 worth of vouchers) will be drawn at our Wrap meeting next week. In the meantime, check out the brilliant video by Radio Wey below and the photos, which capture the brilliant community feel of the whole day. If you have some good ones, please send them in: [email protected]. Walton Matters has also published an article about the event you can read by clicking this link: WALTON MATTERS OCTOBER Thanks to everyone - with a special shout out to Surrey 4x4 Response who are all amazing - for supporting our efforts to make Walton a better place to live and work! Many thanks to our partners below, and the Walton Heritage Day Organising Committee: Tracey Blandford, Joanna Gordon, Chris Sadler, Helen Sadler, Neil Luxton, Melvyn Mills, Alan Palmer & Gail Hoskins.
This year Walton-on-Thames is holding it's main Heritage Day fair in our most historic part of the shopping district - Bridge Street! We're also adding further excitement to our town-wide event, to include boat trips with the Sea Cadets from Walton Wharf, abseiling down St Mary's church tower and backstage tours/screenings at the newest Blue Plaque location in town - the Cecil Hepworth Playhouse. There will be six sites in total (see below) - if you visit all, and collect the stamps on your programme, you can enter the draw for £100 worth of vouchers!
We will be having our usual popular activities like the Dog Show (with a top prize of a £50 voucher for Best in Show) and the Fair but are also ending the day with an open-air concert in Bridge Street! So SAVE THE DATE now and plan to enjoy all the amazing things happening in Walton-on-Thames! |
