2019 AGM
WoTTA's 2019 Annual General Meeting was held at 6.30pm on Thursday May 9th 2019 at Walton Cricket Club.
At our AGM, we welcomed over 30 attendees. We shared updates on our 3 year achievements, our social media reach* and our financial accounts.
We then focused on the Election of Directors. Three of the founding Directors were up for re-election and, after offering members in advance and attendees at the meeting the chance to stand against them, no-one came forward, They were all unanimously voted in for re-election:
Chairman - Alan Palmer, Managing Director - Joanna Gordon and Retail Director - Mark Middleton
After that was the voting for new Financial Director after founding member Gail Hoskins stepped aside earlier in 2019. In his absence, we are delighted that Ricus Roets was duly voted in. Ricus joined the meeting later and met attendees.
The final vote was for a new Director role for WoTTA 'Community Interest Director' which the board had invited Melyvn Mills to become, recognising his long service to Walton, WoTTA and his continued passion to 'fix' things in the interest of the community.
All Directors will serve for a term of 3 Years until May 2022. PR and Marketing Director Tracey Blandford has a further 2 years of her term to serve after being elected in May 2018.
After 'Thanking' all the sponsors and partners who have worked with us in 2018-19, we looked at on-going projects. We encourage all businesses to consider working with us as partners and /or sponsors of future events. Brand awareness gained through our social media for a sponsor company is extremely cost-effective. Recognition of a local business with community spirit goes a long way with our residents.
We then welcomed consultants Mo and Sue from Mosaic to share information on the latest phases of the Walton B.I.D (Business Improvement District) project which has been funded by Elmbridge Borough Council (EBC).
We are delighted that so many attendees engaged with Mo's presentation, asked questions and some are keen to join the B.I.D Task Force which has to be set up, independent of WoTTA, to work with Mosaic, WoTTA and EBC over the next 12 months. More information on the B.I.D and the task force is available on the BID website.
To close the AGM, Danny O'Sullivan, franchise owner of McDonald's Walton and a member of the WoTTA Steering Team presented the Exemplary Award for Outstanding Community Service to Michael Tumilty of Walton Litter Pickers. Michael is fast changing the streets of Walton with a group of willing and passionate members who are all undertaking Litter Picking on their way to school, work, clubs or just a family stroll.
Michael has already been made a Keep Britain Tidy Ambassador and is making #committoyourstreet a very popular Hashtag on social media, whilst encouraging other towns to join in
In addition to the formalities, the event provided a great opportunity for networking over refreshments.
