Elmbridge Writing Competition 2025- Entries welcome
With 3 rivers flowing through the borough (the Wey, Mole and Thames), Elmbridge residents are never very far from the water.
The theme for entries in 2025 is 'The River'.

Plans To Improve Walton High Street are Under Review.
Following a public consultation, the proposed move of the pedestrian crossing to outside the entrance of the Heart has been dropped.
New trees will be planted and the crossing improved. Details from Surrey County Counciil. There's a survey for your views too..

Helpful, much needed signs are being installed in key locations in our town. They cover an area from the railway station to the River Thames. Each finger post is topped with the 'Love Walton' heart.

Two Aspects of Walton's Past in a New Memorial
This stunning new memorial can now be seen in Station Avenue, Walton-on-Thames. in front of Walton Court Gardens, a new housing development on the site of former Birds Eye offices. (View from two positions to reveal two images from one memorial).
It brings together two parts of Walton's history.
It was commissioned by Crest A2D (Walton Court) LLP in conjunction with Elmbridge Borough Council

- The Spitfire commemorates Flight Seargant Charles Sidney who was shot down over Walton on September 27th 1940
- Offices of Birds Eye on the site in Station Avenue where a number of penguins lived in an outdoor area.

On March 6th 2024, Burwood Grange Care Home opened its doors, The facility is in Seven Hills Road. It can provide care on a permanent or respite basis for 56 people.

Ashley Park Footpath Official Opening
The official opening of the new pathways in Ashley Park took place on May 31st 2022..
Councillor Chris Sadler, Leader of Elmbridge Borough Council performed the ceremonial ribbon cutting. Dominic Raab, MP for Esher and Walton, Deputy Prime Minister addressed the assembled group of Elmbridge councillors and Wotta volunteers.
The project proposed and managed by Wotta was funded through Elmbridge's Community Infrastructure Fund.

Development Allowed on Former Homebase Site After Appeal.
Despite nearly two hundred objections from residents and local organisations including Wotta, developers have been allowed to proceed with a construction of 222 units of care accommodation on the former Homebase site in Ashley Park..
There was a three week inquiry held online in March 2021.
