Background Walton's Riverhouse Arts Centre has declared a Climate Emergency and committed to reducing its carbon footprint to net zero by 2030, in line with the aims of Elmbridge Borough Council. This Sustainability Fair aimed to inspire us all to do what we can and take small steps to a sustainable future. WoTTA was delighted to add its support to this initiative.
The Small Steps to Sustainability Fair Despite a rather gloomy morning, Walton residents came along in significant numbers. There was clearly interest, not only in the subject, but in making changes towards a more sustainable lifestyle. The Mayor of Elmbridge (Councillor Mary Sheldon) took a great interest in what stallholders had to say and offer.
The diverse speaker programme drew a packed house as the subjects ranged from composting to electric cars and Vegan make-up to plastic free choices
Stalls were to be found in every available space in the Riverhouse Barn, outside in the courtyard and in the car park where electric cars were on display. the list of stalls shows the diverse range of initiatives and businesses that are covered under the 'Sustainability' heading.
